I'm a wedding photographer and videographer and I love capturing weddings all around the world.
The wedding industry is filled with couples wanting their special day to be unforgettable, but few can match the creativity and uniqueness of Amy-Ellen and Piere’s Rock n’ Roll Wedding which is also featured on Rock N Roll Bride The pair had already made it official a few days earlier with just their parents and a few witnesses present, so they decided to have some fun with the wedding celebration.
The day began with their guests strolling into the woods to the tune of Aerosmith’s classic hit ‘Dude Looks Like A Lady’.
The guests thought all was going to plan… Little did they know, Amy and Pieres had planned a surprise entrance to kick off the night! A tractor and trailer roared through the forest, meeting the guests at the altar.
On board was Amy, dressed in her finest clothing – Lucy Can’t Dance dress and boots from WeddingConverse.co.uk, while Piere waited for her at the top of the altar in his dashing Scopes suit and tie. The entrance truly kept up with the rock n’ roll theme of this unique wedding.
What made their entrance all the more memorable was their bridesmaids and groomsmen. They led the bride down the aisle, but something looked strange about them, the groomsmen were in pretty dresses and the bridesmaids in suits?!
Amy revealed that the idea of having their bridesmaids dressed as groomsmen initially started as a joke. However, as the idea evolved, they realised they hadn’t seen it done before and decided to go for it. And I have to say, it was an absolute hit!
The bridesmaids stole the show with their badass suits and bow ties, while the groomsmen looked absolutely gorgeous with their flowy, green, off-the-shoulder Shein dresses and bouquets.
Amy’s sister performed a beautiful blessing that nailed the balance between humour and heartfelt emotion. The couple said their vows, which were not only personal but also incredibly funny. They had their guests in stitches as they recounted their love story, complete with quirky anecdotes and inside jokes. The ceremony celebrated their special love and friendship, not just their union, take a look at my portfolio for even more inspiration on your ceremony!
In keeping with the fun, the couple used Haribo rings as a playful replacement for traditional wedding bands. The gesture was a meaningful touch that perfectly encapsulated the pair’s humour and easygoing outlook on life.
One of the things that made Amy and Piere’s Rock n’ Roll Wedding so unique was the DIY that added personality and special touch to the event. Piere’s mum, a fantastic florist, made all of the floral arrangements for the wedding. The centrepieces, bouquets, and boutonnieres were all beautifully crafted and reflected the couple’s love for nature which was also present in the venue’s forest setup.
Amy also contributed to the DIY aspects of the wedding by using scrap wood to create a welcome sign and a photo guestbook. The guestbook allowed the guests to leave a personal message for the couple with a Polaroid snapshot of themselves. The Rock n’ Roll Wedding stood out from the typical fairytale-style weddings we often see thanks to the original, innovative ideas used in its planning.
The evening bonfire was a highlight too. As the night wore on, guests gathered around the roaring flames to roast marshmallows and sing classic rock songs. As the night grew darker, the festivities were set against a beautiful backdrop as the stars came out. The bonfire crackled and popped, providing warmth and light for the guests who danced and laughed around it. It was a perfect end to a perfect day.
As I packed up my camera gear and said goodbye to the happy couple, I couldn’t help but think that this Rock n’ Roll Wedding was one of the most memorable events I had ever witnessed. Every element of Amy and Pieres celebration was infused with their undying love for one another, from the music to the decor and everything in between. It was clear that they had put their hearts and souls into planning this day, and it had truly paid off.
