I'm a wedding photographer and videographer and I love capturing weddings all around the world.
I was thrilled to capture Shanila and Akin’s Barbados destination wedding at the stunning Sweetfield Manor. Imagine exchanging vows surrounded by golden beaches, tropical gardens, and Caribbean charm — for many couples, it’s a dream come true. For Shanila and Akin, that dream became a beautiful reality.
Their love story, rooted in Dominican and Nigerian heritage, blossomed into a celebration full of emotion, culture, and unforgettable memories.
Shanila and Akin’s wedding took an unexpected turn just 24 hours before the big day. Their original venue cancelled after the outdoor space was damaged at a festival. But Sweetfield Manor came to the rescue, proving to be the perfect choice.
Although tropical rain meant the ceremony moved indoors, the colonial-style interiors with marble staircases and limestone details created a regal setting for their Barbados wedding. Sometimes, the unplanned moments create the most magical memories.
Sweetfield Manor offered endless photo opportunities, from its lush gardens to its grand courtyard. Every corner was inspiring, and the couple’s first-look portraits were filled with emotion.
As a destination wedding photographer, I was moved by the raw love between Shanila and Akin. Their laughter and intimate glances were a joy to capture and will be treasured for years to come.
Have a look at my portfolio if you want to see more of my creative ability.
Shanila stunned guests in her elegant Alonuko bridal gown, styled with flawless hair and makeup. Walking into Sweetfield Manor’s courtyard, she looked every bit the radiant bride. The atmosphere was electric as she and Akin exchanged vows amidst the sounds of Caribbean rain and laughter.
What made this Barbados destination wedding so memorable was the blending of cultures. Akin’s family wore traditional West African attire, while Shanila’s bridesmaids dazzled in custom-made dresses crafted from fabric chosen by the bride.
During the reception, African and Caribbean rhythms creatied a vibrant energy. Guests enjoyed a fusion of dishes, dancing, and heartfelt speeches. Later, the couple changed into gold outfits, making a bold and stylish statement.
It was an honour to capture Shanila and Akin’s Barbados destination wedding at Sweetfield Manor. Despite unexpected challenges, their day was filled with joy, love, and vibrant culture.
Every moment — from the first look to the final dance — reflected their unique love story. If you’re planning a Caribbean wedding and searching for a photographer to capture your story, I’d love to connect.
