Real weddings, beautiful places and stories worth remembering.
London, the UK and beyond.
Editorial in style. Documentary at heart
As a Bodleian Library wedding videographer, I had the opportunity to capture Chiraag and Riya’s beautiful Oxford wedding, from their elegant ceremony at the historic Bodleian Library to a relaxed and unforgettable reception at Cherwell Boathouse.
Some wedding days simply feel made for film.
This was one of them.
The combination of Oxford’s historic architecture, the emotion of the ceremony and the peaceful surroundings of the River Cherwell created an incredible setting for a cinematic wedding film.
Most importantly, however, it was the genuine moments throughout the day that made Chiraag and Riya’s wedding so special.
My approach to wedding videography is always centred around storytelling. Rather than creating a film that simply documents what happened, I want couples to be able to watch their wedding film years later and remember exactly how the day felt.
The Bodleian Library is one of Oxford’s most iconic landmarks and an extraordinary place to get married.
Its historic architecture immediately creates a sense of grandeur, while the character of the building provides a naturally cinematic backdrop for wedding videography.
For a Bodleian Library wedding videographer, the venue offers so many opportunities to tell a story through film.
The anticipation before the ceremony, guests arriving and those quiet moments between the couple can all be woven together with the architecture and atmosphere of the building.
Rather than staging every shot, I wanted the camera to observe what was happening naturally.
That documentary approach allowed the emotion of the day to take centre stage.
The result is a Bodleian Library wedding film that feels personal to Chiraag and Riya rather than overly posed or rehearsed.
Wedding photography can preserve a single moment beautifully, but wedding videography allows you to experience those moments again.
You hear the voices, laughter, music and you see the reactions.
Most importantly, you can hear the words spoken between two people as they make one of the biggest promises of their lives.
For Chiraag and Riya, those genuine moments were at the heart of their Oxford wedding film.
After their ceremony at the Bodleian Library, Chiraag and Riya continued their celebrations at Cherwell Boathouse.
The change of location gave the wedding film an entirely different atmosphere.
Where the Bodleian Library provided history, architecture and grandeur, Cherwell Boathouse offered a more relaxed and intimate setting beside the River Cherwell.
It also created one of my favourite sequences from the entire day.
Chiraag and Riya took to the water together in a boat, giving me the opportunity to capture some stunning aerial footage of the couple from above.
Seeing them travelling along the river, surrounded by the beautiful Oxford landscape, created a wonderfully cinematic moment.
The aerial shots added scale and movement to the wedding film while also showing the couple within the setting that surrounded them.
It was a completely different perspective from the footage captured at the Bodleian Library, and that contrast helped give their wedding film its own visual identity.
Aerial footage can be an incredible addition to wedding videography when it has a genuine purpose within the story.
For Chiraag and Riya, the boat sequence at Cherwell Boathouse was the perfect opportunity.
The drone allowed me to move away from the traditional ground-level perspective and show the couple within the wider Oxford landscape.
As they travelled along the River Cherwell, the movement of the boat, the surrounding greenery and the peaceful atmosphere created some of the most memorable footage of the day.
Of course, aerial filming is always dependent on weather, location, permissions and safety conditions. When everything comes together, however, it can create something genuinely spectacular.
At Trilion Productions, my approach combines documentary wedding videography with a cinematic and editorial style.
The documentary side is about allowing the day to happen naturally.
Rather than constantly directing couples or asking them to recreate moments, I prefer to observe, anticipate and capture what happens organically.
The cinematic side comes through in the filmmaking itself.
Composition, camera movement, natural sound, music and pacing all work together to create a story that feels emotional and immersive.
For Chiraag and Riya, this meant moving between the grandeur of the Bodleian Library and the natural beauty of Cherwell Boathouse while keeping their relationship at the centre of the film.
The result is not simply a recording of their wedding.
It is a visual story of the day.
There is something incredibly special about hearing your wedding day again.
Years after the flowers have disappeared and the decorations have been packed away, your wedding film remains.
You can listen to your partner’s voice during the ceremony; listen to your family’s speeches; hear your friends laughing and watch the moments you didn’t see because you were busy getting married.
A wedding film captures all of this in a way that photographs alone cannot.
The visuals are important, but so are the sounds, movement and atmosphere.
That is why wedding videography is about much more than simply recording the day.
It is about preserving how the day felt.
If you’re planning a wedding at the Bodleian Library, Oxford offers an incredible variety of locations and experiences that can become part of your wedding film.
The historic architecture of the city provides a beautiful backdrop for cinematic footage, while locations such as Cherwell Boathouse offer something completely different.
Think about the places that are meaningful to you as a couple.
Think about how you want your wedding day to feel when you watch it back in ten, twenty or thirty years.
And most importantly, choose a wedding videographer whose approach allows your day to unfold naturally.
Your wedding film shouldn’t feel like someone else’s.
It should feel like you.
Chiraag and Riya’s wedding was a perfect example of why I love cinematic wedding videography.
From the historic surroundings of the Bodleian Library to the peaceful waters of the River Cherwell, their day had everything needed to create a beautiful visual story.
But ultimately, the venues were only part of it.
The most important part was them.
Their relationship, their family, their friends and the moments they shared throughout the day.
At Trilion Productions, I create cinematic wedding films that combine documentary storytelling, natural moments and beautiful cinematic imagery.
Whether you’re planning a Bodleian Library wedding, a celebration at Cherwell Boathouse or a wedding anywhere else across Oxford and the UK, I’d love to capture your story through film.
